Isn’t it wonderful to be alive? Despite this, it’s also difficult to grasp the complexities of life. Parents and teachers are fond of reminding their children of the fun they had as children. That’s the case for the vast majority of us. Looking back, it’s amazing how simple our lives were. When you’re a kid, all you do is play with your toys, go to school, hang out with your friends, and participate in various sports activities. However, as you get older, life becomes more and more complicated.
You must first decide whether or not to attend college. The next step is to decide on your career path. You must find work. You begin to think about settling in. You’re provided with a vehicle. To buy a house, you take out a mortgage. Bills must be paid. It’s possible you owe money. Dogs are an option. How about tying the knot? Yup. Definitely. Then there are the children. Finally, you awaken one day to the realisation: WHAT THE FUCK!!
It’s hard to comprehend why time sped up. Honestly, I don’t know. Why didn’t I go after my dream sooner? What’s wrong with my life right now? You’ll come to terms with the fact that you have no idea what you’re doing on that day. “I’ve got life figured out,” you thought for years. I’m employed, in a relationship, and own a home. “Yes, those things are very important to us. However, those aren’t the only things that matter in life. While we’re at it, life is a mystery that cannot be solved. People evolve over time. Things evolve. It’s inevitable, so just deal with it. Don’t try to stop it. You are exactly who you are. We can’t change the way things are. Everyone, including those who are behaving in this way and passing judgement on you, does not have it all figured out. Pretending you’re someone you aren’t in order to please a group of judgmental hypocrites and shitheads is not the way to happiness – Tucker Max.
“What are we going to do?”. My friend, it’s time to get your life together. Make time for the things that make you happy. Make yourself known. Surely, if you’re reading this, you’re still here and still alive. But that isn’t the most important thing. Does your life have meaning? Do you live by ticking off things on a to-do list? To put it another way, that’s not living.
Tyler Durden and Raymond K. Hessel were featured in a chapter of Fight Club. You can read it here (chapter 20 if you’d like). For those unfamiliar with Fight Club, Tyler Durden is the main character who despises modern society. He intends to wreak havoc and reshape society. The scene that I’m referring to is as follows: “Listen, now, you’re going to die,” Tyler Durden tells Raymond, who works at a convenience store. Afterwards, Tyler Durden enquires of Raymond as to his ambitions for the future. In addition, Raymond refers to himself as “a veterinarian.” Then again, he’s not in school at the moment.
The choice is yours, Raymond Hessel: either you’re in school and working your ass off, or you’re dead. “It’s up to you. “Although life isn’t a novel or an excellent movie, we can still learn from the last quote, even if it is true. What I’m saying is that you could be doing X, but you’re just taking the safe route because you think you know what’s going to happen in the future. Happiness is having a job, a house, a spouse, children, and time off to enjoy it all. Here’s the problem: You can fail at anything. Safe. Unsafe. It doesn’t really matter. You could be fired from a well-paying job. You could lose your house. Your relationship could end. You could even die tomorrow. The chances are small. But still. You get it. So why not take a chance? Take a chance with love, your career, and your business. Because life can’t be figured out. You will never “figure it out.” There is no one road to happiness, wealth, or success.
I could be completely wrong about everything in life and land, face down, on the curb when I find out how wrong I was. But I’m okay with that. At least I try to overcome my fears on a daily basis. I tried to figure out life for a long time, and for years, I even thought I had it all figured out. I had a job, girlfriend, car, friends, and holidays. Until one day I found out that I had no clue what life was about. Life is just one long process that doesn’t always make sense.
As Raymond K. Hessel runs off to start his dream job of becoming a veterinarian, Tyler Durden says: “Your dinner is going to taste better than any meal you’ve ever eaten, and tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of your entire life. “That’s how life feels after you’ve made a bold move. Every now and then, shake up your life, and do something that makes you scared. And remember that life can’t be figured out—so you might as well just enjoy it.
