We’re all guilty of making up lame reasons to avoid doing things we don’t feel like doing. “Honey, I’m too tired,” is a common expression. “I have an appointment with the doctor.” “I’m going to a spinning class. “You’re not in the mood, you’re perfectly healthy, and by “spinning class,” you mean watching an episode of House of Cards. Those are all excuses. Nothing to worry about. There are some good excuses out there, but we also make some bad ones. We say things like, “I’d like to start a business, but I don’t have $100,000 to do so.”I’ve been putting off doing things I wanted to do for a long time because I’ve always found some lame reason not to. It’s true that I was apprehensive. Consequently, you never begin. Then again, it’s a simple means of deceiving yourself into thinking you’re not the problem. We will do anything to demonstrate that “I am not the issue.”

Gary Vaynerchuk has a new book out called #AskGaryVee, in which he says the following: When it comes to explaining why they haven’t had success, “it’s astounding how many remarkable reasons and circumstances people can come up with.”— @garyvee He’s right; we’re very good at coming up with excuses for not doing something.

This is a list of excuses I’ve made in the past, along with how I got rid of each one.

“I just don’t have the time” – is one of the most common excuses. There are 1440 minutes in a day, and they are all the same for everyone. Why do some people manage to get things done while others cannot? Basically, it’s because they don’t waste time. You should never use the excuse “I don’t have time.” “I don’t like it” is a good excuse if you can’t do something. “I’d rather watch TV.”

“I don’t have money” – As a matter of fact, I’m broke. But don’t you know what a joy it is to look at? When you’re short on cash, you’ve got an opening. Despite this, a large number of people regard it negatively. Because you have no money to lose, having no money is actually a good thing. Try new things, and don’t be afraid to express yourself. Then make it so.

“I am too tired “– Unless you’re seriously ill, using the excuse “I’m too tired” is a poor one. A few months ago, one of my friends told me that he couldn’t play football with his 5-year-old son because he was too exhausted. I had a fit and screamed at him. Isn’t that the purpose of having friends? The good news is that he got up and started playing football. Is it worth it? He no longer watches as much of The Walking Dead, but he still thinks it’s worthwhile.

“I live in a small city “– In my small hometown, I was raised under the motto, “If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.” I still hold that belief today. It’s a hoax. I’ve come to the conclusion that you can make it anywhere if you try hard enough. In addition, you don’t have to relocate. You’ve got the internet.

“I live in a shitty country “ – No matter where you are in the world, you might not be the happiest or wealthiest person on earth. “So, what?” In no way, shape, or form does macroeconomics have any bearing on you, the individual. In addition, you don’t have to relocate to Silicon Valley to start a tech company. What makes you think there’s a sack of cash at SFO waiting for you?

“I don’t have any help from my parents” — Be grateful for what little help you do have. Some people are born without any biological parents.

“My spouse doesn’t support me “– The fact that she is your spouse doesn’t make it any easier for you. If nothing else, you’ll know you’re not going through this alone, and that’s comforting. If they don’t think you can do it, then prove them wrong.

“I have children “– The only excuse I can’t use myself is that I have children, but I’ve heard many people use this excuse. There are those who believe that having children is the only reason to avoid risk and give up on one’s dreams. You can’t play it safe. Give them a bright future by doing the opposite.

“I have to work “– So, I must go to work. Everyone has a job. That doesn’t mean that you can’t make your own art in your spare time. In the evenings and on the weekends, you could start your business.

“I don’t have previous experience “– Even if dinosaurs are looking at your “previous experience,” you don’t want to work for them. It’s no longer the 1990s. There is no substitute for skill and execution when it comes to a job well done. Ad men in their 50s have nothing on some of the young marketers I’ve met.

“I am useless “– If you keep telling me that, I’ll believe you. As you think, so do you become. Because of this, don’t think you’re worthless.

“I don’t have the looks “– Looking good is a lot more important than you might think. In the end, it’s all about the humour and character.

“Because I don’t have the appropriate degree” (or none at all) – no one should care. You don’t want to work for anyone who does that.

“I am a minority “– If you’re one of the few, I’d love for you to join us.

“I am overweight “– I used to be overweight, but now I’m not. However, after I started running every day, I began to lose weight.

Using excuses is a habit. It’s a bad one because it gets in the way of your plans. Even worse, you’re the one who’s responsible for it. We can all learn from Benjamin Franklin: “No matter what else he tries to do; a good excuse maker rarely succeeds.” Nobody aspires to the status of being a bad person. Consider this: Are the reasons you cite for not taking action even valid? It’s unlikely. The only reason you can’t is that someone has been in your shoes and made shit happen, and why can’t you?
