How can you stop yourself from having thoughts that you don’t want to be having? Well, the answer is you can’t. The reality is that we can’t control the things that pop into our heads; you cannot stop the thoughts from popping into your head. If you can’t believe ask yourself how long have you been trying to control what’s come into your head or trying to stops things that you don’t like popping into your head. If you are trying to achieve the impossible by trying to block you are trying to stop the thoughts from coming in because we don’t have control over the things that pop into our minds. We only have control over what we then do with the things that pop into our minds. For example, whether we decide to listen to it or whether we carry on that thought process or whether we just ignore it and that’s where we have control but we don’t have control over what’s pops into our head.
When you are trying to stop such where our focus goes? Yes, when we are focusing on those thoughts. So by trying not to think about it, you are getting yourself to think about it more and that’s how it becomes such a problem, is that what you can do to stop getting from those thoughts, the sample, and more short and the answer is you do nothing. Yes, it probably sounds like a really unhelpful or difficult thing ridiculous thing to say about thoughts you find disturbing but ultimately that is the shortest answer is that what we want to do with these thoughts that pop up into our heads is we want to do nothing. We want people to ignore it as stop paying attention stop viewing than with meaning or to stop trying to push them away so stop replacing them with other thoughts. We just let the thoughts be there in your head and not pay attention to them.
