Fear is the most common obstacle that most people face. When it comes to most people, the fear of failure is a major motivator. What are your options if you don’t do well in school? What happens if your company fails? You might not be a professional athlete, but what then? What if you failed miserably at dating? If I had to, I could go on for a few more hours like that. However, have you ever given it much thought? My intention is to express myself in a practical manner. What are the repercussions of failure?
Here are three possible outcomes, and your job is to pick the best one.
1. All life on Earth will come to an end.
“OMG! Here we are at the end of my time on Earth.” No, it’s not just teenagers who say that. Many adults have said that to me. In fact, I’ve even said it before. In the event that you lose your job, you may think that your career is over. You might think that a bad grade is the end of your life if you get one. This is not the case. You might think that you’ll be single for the rest of your life if you get dumped. At the same time, you believe that humanity as a whole is doomed. It’s obvious, isn’t it? You made a mistake, and now we’re all paying the price.
Even if you don’t realise it, you’re being selfish if you think the world’s problems are all your fault. That’s what the majority of responsible people believe. However, did you know that you are not solely to blame for the state of the world? There is no one else to blame but you for your own mistakes. Even if you fail, the world will not come to an end. The human race will not be extinct in the near future. Don’t even think about that outcome. It’s not worth it.
2. There will be no action.
Your failure is more likely to occur if NOTHING happens. Things don’t go according to plan when you try something new. What’s the final verdict? Nothing. Nothing. Even if your company fails and a few people label you a failure, so what? Is this something you truly care about? Don’t sweat it; just try again later. I don’t mean “do the same thing” when I say that. Idiots act in this manner. Next time, do things a little differently.
3. A Chance Is Spotted by You
According to Robert Greene’s book Mastery, we’re all opportunists. He claims that we are adept at spotting and seizing any opportunity that comes our way. According to Greene, every fibre of our being is wired to be on the lookout for a way in. For those who don’t have an opening, what can you do in the meantime? Try a new thing and see how it works out. You may be a failure, or you may be a success. No matter what happens, always be on the lookout for opportunities. Regardless of how bad the situation may be, try to use it to your advantage. Using our ancestors as an example, Greene explains how our ancestors-built tools for hunting. In the beginning, our primitive ancestors had no idea of how to make a tool that would aid them in scavenging and killing man, our arms are just too short to kill certain animals, a person may have said some 500.000 years ago. We’ll be eaten alive by them. “How about grabbing a stick and a sharp piece of stone, tying it together, and BOOM; a spear.
This may or may not be an accurate retelling of the story. People may have died in this scenario, but they also had the opportunity to create a weapon because humans had a problem.
There Is No Such Thing as Failure.
Failing to meet our expectations is a terrifying prospect for the majority of us. Failure, on the other hand, is merely a construct of your own mind. The weird scenarios that your mind conjures up are most likely a product of your imagination. Failure is simply a result. It’s that simple. What are the other options? Just sit there? Go for it if you’re willing to live with the guilt of not having tried. Being resourceful is the best way to overcome the fear of failure. Take on the role of real-life MacGyver (for the younger people, MacGyver was a TV-show character, who could escape from dangerous situations with random items like a piece of gum, a toothpick, or a paperclip). Think of creative ways to make the next time you fail or find yourself in an uncomfortable situation work for you. Opportunism, not false optimism, is what you’re seeing here.
